My youngest brother,

the day after

he returned home from his mission!

I remember

his mission president gave him

permission to ride the train home instead of flying,

the train station was just a few block from

my grandma Harris' house,

where my dad grew up

and where I spent a lot of my childhood,

it made Dave coming home all that more exciting!

It's amazing what 12 years will do....

just look at Candice and Caitlyn!!!

they adored their Uncle Dave......

they still do!

How much fun was that!!! I remember coming home and turning on pink floyds darks side of the moon album and watching Candice and Kati dance ballet style... It was one of those magic moments that you don't ever forget...Dave

Did I mention how much I love old photo's,

this is a picture of my mom,

yes, that's my mom,

the mother of eight children...

and yes, that is pink trim on our house,

and no, it's not there anymore!

the house is, the trim isn't...

that was back in the day when pink trim was cool,

huh,.... pink trim was never cool? ohhh,

my mother who is a striking black beauty,

decided to go platinum blond one summer,

who pulled it off very well, I might add!

who, is about the same age as I am now....

hey, how come I don't look like that!?!

It's hard being the only brother...

Lynzie picked #31 today,

An old picture of my dad,

If I am correct,

this is when we lived in Davenport, Iowa

while my dad was going to Palmer College of Chiropractic,

not only is he a great Chiropractor

but, he is still cracking backs at age 75....

he is also a great artist and golfer,

(in his spare time,)

I love this picture because he is closing one of his eyes to get a good look at his painting,

which he still does to this day when he paints...

I have one of his paintings hanging over my bed.

We love you dad and grandpa!!!

That picture was painted Christmas weekend 1970. I just graduated, no studies to do so I painted that picture and an autumn picture of Pennsylvania countryside. Both pictures are hanging in my office. Love ya, Dad.

I'm waiting for Kurt to get home, he's been gone for too long according to me,

and I just got off facebook where I saw Candice's profile and just lost it, I miss her,

I miss her so much....

she's doing great, a lot of exciting things are happening for her,

I'm happy cuz she is happy,

but, I miss her!

a lot...

I've never owned a pair of rain boots,

Santa brought a unicycle for Christmas,

it's been fun

and quite a conversation piece,

it will be fun one day

to actually ride the thing outside,

with all this crazy weather we are having here,

it's going to be spring.....

School has been cancelled the last two days,

because

we got 9 inches of snow !!!!!!

our biggest snow accumulation ever!

(all my family in Utah can stop laughing now!)

Grandpa, Candice, Grandma....

This was the first night Cj flew into Salt Lake City,

Liz and Craig picked her up at the airport,

then met my parents up in Heber for dinner....

she looks happy doesn't she!

.

I knew Candice was suppose to go to Vernal,

I just didn't know why.......until now!

.

It's amazing....

and yet, not so amazing, when you think about it,

how things fall into place sometimes,

amazing to us, but then again not that amazing ,

cuz the Lord has it already figured out,

but sometimes we find ourselves amazed and in awe anyway!

I guess what I'm trying to say is,

Candice is doing great and is even talking about staying next year,

there is a college across the street from the High School,

where they let the students take college courses,

so she could graduate with an associates degree from a nursing program

at the same time she graduates from High School.....

after talking with her counselor and weighing all her options,

there are a lot of opportunities for her, it's a win/win situation....

it's so weird to watch your daughter grow up,

I mean, really growing up...

and making big girl decisions about life,

She is amazing.

Candice gets to go to Washington DC next month,

and among all the historical things she will experience,

she also gets to spend the day on Capital Hill visiting with the Senators,

I love that she gets to learn through life instead of just reading about History in books...

then in June, before she comes home she is going to Hawaii.

I miss Candice so much when I am driving home,

I turn the corner and see her car sitting there,

every time for a split second my heart skips

and then my head remember she isn't here...

I am happy because she is so happy!

Tomorrow I get my stitches out..... (hopefully)

I'm glad cuz there starting to itch, and it kind-of bizarre to eat food,

I've lived off of protein smoothies for the last few weeks,

but, I sure can make a mean smoothie now!!!

Mt. Timpanogos

A few summers ago, on a visit to Utah,

I woke up early and drove myself to the temple,

to meet 2 mission companions,

this is my mom's temple district,

altho, there is a temple in every direction from her house,

......it's hard to choose!

There is something about Utah mornings,

they are beautiful and crisp and they smell so good,

so, I parked my car and walked up the sidewalk,

(just typing this makes me cry, because looking at the picture, I can still smell and feel it)

so, it is so breathtakingly beautiful that I am snapping pictures as I am walking because I want to remember how it looks and feels forever,

the grounds are amazing as always, the morning sun is rising over the moutains

and it's just about more than I can take in!

there is a family waiting for their bride and groom to come out,

and at that moment my heart swells and my testimony is strengthened,

I love how you can feel the spirit outside of the temple as well as within.

I also love that a few days later, we gathered as a family at this temple

and did temple work for my dear old big brother...

I sure do love temples,

I love the pure simpleness of sweetness that calms your soul,

and talks to your spirit.

One Sunday afternoon, after church, we went to Grapevine Lake park

to enjoyed the humid sticky Texas weather,

I was trying to take pictures of the girls,

but Spencer kept jumping in the picture at the last minute,

little brothers are obnoxious sometimes,

speaking of Spencer, he is so funny, I love that kid,

and I love his sense of humor.....

back in the day, when he was little, before we blogged,

I keep a little notebook/journal of the funny things he would do and say,

even when I go back and read them now, they make me laugh!

just yesterday he said, after he ripped a big one,

"my farts don't stink anymore, that's sad"....

only a boy would say that!

and because I only have one boy,

his thought process always throws me off guard!

I love how boys are wired differently

and how they see the world at a different angle than girls.

then dad decided to join in.....

Finally...... we were successful!

Ugly..... but fun!

This is what happened on a cold Saturday morning

when Caitlyn and Lynzie were bored out of there gored,

laying in my bed,

getting crazier by the moment,

when laughing, pulling faces, and taking pictures seemed

like a fun thing to do, just

for a good Saturday morning laugh ,

once they start they can't stop.....

and Lynzie is just young enough that she doesn't care,

the uglier the better....

today was the 13 folder, 13th picture....the many faces of Lynzie,

I do have other children that I take pictures of....

February and freckles.....

For the month of February,

(which I still can't believe its Feb. 1)

I'm going to post random pictures, today I choose the 8th folder with the 8th picture, but this was the only picture in folder #8.....it works for me!

This was the day Lynzie came home very excited from school, (she was in the second grade)....because she got to go to the school LIBRARY and check out her first book of the year..... and what did she choose ?

Freckle Juice.... what else !?!

Lynzie loves her freckles which is a blessing because most kids think they're a curse......

but not Lynzie,,,

there has been 2 or 3 times that Lynzie has been concerned enough about her freckles that there has been tears involved ! She has felt on more than one occasion that her freckles might be coming off. She even scratched her nose and swore she could see a freckle on her finger, (not a good day!) but when we looked in the mirror, thank goodness, all 52 were still there! Whoo !
