Reno 9-1-1...

We left around 3 am Friday morning,

Kurt had a "hot shot" to do and asked me it I wanted to go,

I jumped at the chance,

sometimes those spontaneous adventures of mixing business with pleasure are the best,

and that is exactly how it has turned out...

driving the "hot shot" down wasn't bad at all,

It felt like driving a truck, (not a big 18 wheeler)

I slept most of the time in the big back seat while Kurt drove through the night.

we arrived at our hotel....

it doesn't have a indoor pool or hot tub and no continental breakfast,

which was strange, 

I thought that was just a givin' for every hotel and was really looking forward to swimming

BUT

we're here and it's just been fun to get out of town,

it's warmer here than in SLC, imagine that!!!

we are getting ready right now to hit the big city strip of Reno,

and we're already ahead of the game I might add....

I won $2 dollars last night when we hit our first slot machine!!!!!

we went out to dinner at a FABULOUS buffet,

that our nice hotel concierge recommended

and he was right,

I think we would say it was one of the best we've ever been too,

I will NOT peel shrimp, but I actually can say that I peeled one right after another,

 they were THAT good!

then, I saw a ring that I felt I really needed in my heart,

(the detail is so pretty, kind-of hard to see in the picture.)

Kurt didn't even bat an eye!!!!

we walked around and saw all the sights and enjoyed the city lights coming to light after dark,

it's lighter at night than during the day!

Kurt played a slot machine, hit it once and ka-bomb, paid for our dinner!

it's nice cuz we know when to walk away, instead of getting greedy and losing it all!

needless to say, it's been a great weekend from start to finish.

we came back to our hotel to relax, we will actually sleep a full night without a little pee-tail dog having to do a potty break in the middle of the night, and get this:

we will get to sleep in, actually sleep until we wake up on our own!

oh, the things we take for granted as parents,

and the rat-race we call life sometimes...

it's been so nice to get away,

why don't we do this for ourselves more often,

we deserve it to ourselves to put each other first instead of last....

it's been one of my best days in a LONG time...

(Candice put a little damper on my mood today 

when I found out she was gone all day,

thank goodness that Caitlyn stepped up to the plate

 and played mom for the day,

she will be well rewarded, 
I appreciate her.)

and very much needed I might add...

the birthday boy....

Kurt's 43rd and we have been celebrating all weekend!

It's nice to have him home this year for his big day,

most years he is out and away...

we have been eating all weekend...

but,

we've been all together!!!

Happy Birthday Kurt,

we love you!

just 2 more hours to go.....

kurt and lynzie are on there way home!!!

and we couldn't be more happier, they have been gone way too long....

i've been on deaths door and everything in the house is falling apart.....

they'll get in around 2 am, so i'm just trying to hang out until then, it's like hurry up and wait or like christmas.....Oh, it will be so nice to have them back again!

this was the sweetest picture i took of them right before they left to go to Utah, they we studying the scriptures, Lynzie wanted to know more signs of the second coming, so we were studying in 3 Nephi when Christ visits the Nephites and all the signs that happened before He came, and what He did while He was with them, it can give us an idea of what might happen again. sweet little Lynzie wants to be prepared in every way, do you know how guilty you feel when your ten year old daughter is pushing you to get your 72 hour-kits- up-to-date-again......

we've missed them so, but i'm glad they've had nice weather to enjoy, cuz while they've been gone we've been hiding out at home cuz it's too hot to go outside!!!!

it will be nice to celebrate Kurt birthday this weekend together.

and we'll get to plan a get together with everyone when Diane comes, we love having family, i just wished we could have had more family visit while we lived here...

If nothing else.....

it's good to have Kurt home so he can yank someones chain!

we just got to spend a day and a half with Kurt...

altho, it was short, it's always sweet!

Once upon a time when Dad was still green

This was my MTC companion (Joe Winther) and I having fun on "P" Day.

so sometimes things aren't as they might seem....

I called Kurt this morning pretty dang excited

because I knew, that today was the day that I'd get to see him again,

but

I just didn't know at what time he thought he might be rolling in...

(it all depends on how much sleep he gets the night before, depending on how long he decides to pull over and sleep)

When he said " I got four hours of sleep" I knew he must be pretty close to home!!!

so, he said, "what are you doing now"?

Oh, nothing,

"Do you want to come with me to drop my load in McKinney"?

.........Uhmmmm YES!

"Okay, he said, I'll call you in about a half hour

do you want to walk up to the corner and across the street and I'll pick you up there,

that way I won't have to bring my big rig into the neighborhood

and

we can get on the freeway easier"!

Sure!, I said,

it sounded like an adventure and after the week I've had,

I was up for an adventure......

.........of any kind!

plus,

I was willing to cross two streets uphill all the way in a snow storm barefoot,

to get to see my husband

whom I haven't seen for a week!

So, I get the call, and it was almost like a first date,

even after 19 years of wedded bliss, I still get butterflies...

I started walking, and there he is....

I can see the big green beautiful truck, it's a wonderful sight to see,

he gets

to the corner faster than me,

he is pulled over in the turning lane with his flasher turned on,

I pick up my step and walk a little faster...

I'm waiting to cross at the light, and oh, it seems to be taking FOREVER,

I'm looking around and I see this car waiting at the light too and a nice looking gentlemen is looking at me and looking at the trucker parked across the street and I can just see his mind turning,

he's putting two and two together,

or so he thinks he's putting two and two together,

he's keeps looking at me, and looking at the truck kind-of in amazement

oh,

did I mention I was still wearing my work-out clothes,

so that really wasn't helping my case either!

So,

sure enough,

I start walking across the street and the poor confused man is driving slow and totally slows down to give me a crusty look, right before I jump in the truck!

it was rather an awkward moment.

when I told Kurt we both started laughing,

'Lot Lizards'

are what they call them, if you know what I mean.

It's funny cuz sometimes things really aren't as they might seem to be!

or maybe they are...

Saturday is a .....

Oh, they're home....

but

only for a few hours

and Kurt is leaving again...

it's rather frustrating!

I want to be able to spend just a little bit longer with him...

I won't be able to go with him to El Paso because he's not coming back,

he's going to Arizona....

gosh darn,

I can't believe he's leaving again.

I made him take goofy pictures with me so I could stare at him while he's gone...

poor guy, he's a little past exhausted!

home again, home again, jiggity, jig....

It's been nice to be home and even nicer to be home with my family instead of working,

....wow....

what a difference that has made, I'm feeling better than I have in a loooong time....

altho,

Kurt and Caitlyn jumped right back on the road to Virginia for a family reunion on Kurt's side.

I'm always glad for Kurt and even Caitlyn (since that is her birthplace too) to get the chance to get back home,

and he always seems to make it back to VA just in the nick of time for his birthday!

which was on the 31st...

so, we'll just celebrate when he returns,

but....

in the mean time,

here's just a little nibble on your ear

until I see you again! wink, wink.

I wanted to go to Virginia with them, but Cj wanted to stay and work, and I wasn't ready to leave her again,

which I'm glad I didn't cuz we've been having a little bit o' fun here together and it's worked out better!

Caitlyn said something the other day, that she had only slept in her bed 5 times this summer, and it's true, this has been a different summer,

infact, we've only been down the "lazy river" once and that was the day they opened!!!

Speaking of, I'm in denial that the summer is coming to a close and that (you know what) is going to start in a short 2 and 1/2 weeks.....last night I about cried as I noticed it got dark at 8:50 instead of 9:30ish....

I love summers and the freedom of just being in the moment...

We're going green...

We had to sell our Mercedes and the white truck to make a down payment.....

on this little beauty!!!

Kurt called about 6:30 pm and said,

"Tell the kids to come out!"

and of course, all the kids went flying out the door

and there she was,

a big beautiful green truck!

Lynzie loves that the two front seats are bouncy,

Spencer loves e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g.,

Sadie is still a little unsure,

Caitlyn loves that it's green,

Kurt is ecstatic,

he loves that it's so roomy, with a bed, table, fridge and t.v.,

and he loves that it's an automatic,

and I.....

well,,, I'm just tickled pink

(or even green)

that my husband has a job!!!

It's been a long six months

and altho we have been so blessed, for which I'm so grateful,

I'm just happy for Kurt,

this is a dream in the making for him,

he has dreamt of his own trucking business for 20 years!

last night, we had over 10 people in the truck going for a joy ride,

it was so fun to watch the little kids screaming with excitement,

I guess it's not everyday you get to ride in a big rig...

woot, woot,

now I can official say;

(in my redneck voice)

"my husbands a truuucker"!!!

This is how I felt today...

Kurt's company merged and his job was dissolved,

and

I ate too much Halloween candy!

Lucky for us...tonight he had a business adventure...

the Fort Worth Rodeo!

So we went and it was fun as it always is!

(I always love a good Rodeo!)

Our 18th Anniversary

21 years ago

we met in the M.T.C.

as we were both called to serve in the

Italy, Catania mission

where we spent 10 hours a day trying to learn Italian..

(did you know...there are 7 different ways to say "the"...)We dated for 7 months after our missions

and then were sealed in the

Washington D.C. Temple...

18 years later...

I still get butterflies when I hold his hand!

It's that time again....

Kurt "gets" to go for

three days...

but, that's okay, because when he gets back...

We will get to celebrate our anniversary!

All is well....

We picked Kurt up from the airport this evening...
He was supppose to be gone on business all week but,
He changed his schedule so he could be home tomorrow...
for Candice's 16th birthday....


It's funny how when he's home everything is well...
All the planets line up...
And he can hang the moon just right!
