a quick trip to utah...

Kurt got another quick trip to Utah
(this is his 3rd week in a row)
so,
Sadie and I decided to jump in at the last minute and go with him,
it was a quick, fun trip.

Can you even imagine getting to spend 20+ hours of drive time with your husband, and you get to talk and talk and no one interrupts you?.....
ya, it was kind-of nice!

I loved driving down Spanish Fork Canyon,
right when your almost at the bottom, you turn the corner and out of nowhere
are these huge white windmill turbines,
it's always so cool to see them,
it's like something out of Close Encounters of Third Kind,
doo-doo-doo-dooooo

even the big black bugs on Kurt's windshield liked em!

and of course,
Utah wouldn't be Utah without getting a new hair-do by the famous Pollyanna...

ilovethatgirl.

I finally went to Sweet Tooth Fairy Cupcake Shop,
and of course,
got a pumpkin-chocolate chip cupcake with cream cheese frosting,
it was too rich, but good... I wasn't complaining, but my tummy sure did a little later!
I looked everywhere for Cjane or NieNie,
but, they were nowhere to be found!

Sundance is oh so beautiful this time of year,
come to think about it, it's beautiful all year round, the change of the seasons are amazing, especially when you live in the Lone Star State and that doesn't happen to much around these parts,
with all the Autumn in the air, not only were the colors so pretty to look at,
but even the air smells refreshing and good,
we drove up around Sundance with the sunroof open,
that's the only way to do it, or in a convertible,
then we
started to drive up the Alpine Loop,
but the road stared to get too narrow for this Texas girl
so I make Kurt turn around!

it was fun to see my mom and dad again,
and
Dave, Kris, O, M and E,
and
Kyle,
we even managed to take our regular.cheesy.quick.picture.together,
we are getting quite a picture collection.

so sometimes things aren't as they might seem....

I called Kurt this morning pretty dang excited
because I knew, that today was the day that I'd get to see him again,
but
I just didn't know at what time he thought he might be rolling in...
(it all depends on how much sleep he gets the night before, depending on how long he decides to pull over and sleep)
When he said " I got four hours of sleep" I knew he must be pretty close to home!!!

so, he said, "what are you doing now"?

Oh, nothing,

"Do you want to come with me to drop my load in McKinney"?

.........Uhmmmm YES!

"Okay, he said, I'll call you in about a half hour
do you want to walk up to the corner and across the street and I'll pick you up there,
that way I won't have to bring my big rig into the neighborhood
and
we can get on the freeway easier"!

Sure!, I said,
it sounded like an adventure and after the week I've had,
I was up for an adventure......
.........of any kind!
plus,
I was willing to cross two streets uphill all the way in a snow storm barefoot,
to get to see my husband
whom I haven't seen for a week!

So, I get the call, and it was almost like a first date,
even after 19 years of wedded bliss, I still get butterflies...

I started walking, and there he is....
I can see the big green beautiful truck, it's a wonderful sight to see,
he gets
to the corner faster than me,
he is pulled over in the turning lane with his flasher turned on,
I pick up my step and walk a little faster...

I'm waiting to cross at the light, and oh, it seems to be taking FOREVER,
I'm looking around and I see this car waiting at the light too and a nice looking gentlemen is looking at me and looking at the trucker parked across the street and I can just see his mind turning,
he's putting two and two together,
or so he thinks he's putting two and two together,
he's keeps looking at me, and looking at the truck kind-of in amazement
oh,
did I mention I was still wearing my work-out clothes,
so that really wasn't helping my case either!

So,
sure enough,
I start walking across the street and the poor confused man is driving slow and totally slows down to give me a crusty look, right before I jump in the truck!

it was rather an awkward moment.

when I told Kurt we both started laughing,
'Lot Lizards'
are what they call them, if you know what I mean.

It's funny cuz sometimes things really aren't as they might seem to be!
or maybe they are...

the puppet master....

I'm glad Spencer has someone to "mess" with (other than Lynzie)....
and
I'm so glad Sadie loves to be "messed" with....

they're good for each other!
I'm glad he has Sadie,
cuz
who else would fall for that trick?

Our Sunday...

Just sitting here eating a big bowl of Utah peaches
(thanks mom and dad)
and reflecting upon our day today,
it was a beautiful day in every way...
Kurt got in last night,
and it's so nice to have him home,
let me repeat that....
IT'S SO NICE TO HAVE HIM HOME!
the weather has been beautiful the last couple days,
we went to church,
it was nice to hear Kurt bare his testimony,
and to feel our Savior's Love that is extended to us through the Gospel,
and then the highlight of our day was
listening to and watching as Spencer received the Aaronic Priesthood by Kurt,
it was so beautiful and so nice to be together as a family and to feel of that Spirit.
I love my family.
Spencer being ordained as a Deacon today
has made me see the Priesthood in such a different way,
being a mother to a 12 year old son receiving the Priesthood is different than I expected,
it has touched a deeper cord with me,
one that I wasn't expecting, it's been a neat experience for our whole family,
one that we've needed.
I am proud of Spencer and his new responsibilities that he is taking on.
I feel like he is ready.
He's a good son.
